Supreme Court of Justice of Thailand : ウィキペディア英語版
Supreme Court of Thailand

The Supreme Court of Thailand (Thai: ศาลฎีกา, Sarn Dika), located in Bangkok, Thailand, is the highest Thai court of justice, covering criminal and civil cases of the entire country. Operating separately from the Administrative Court and the Constitutional Court, the judgment from the Supreme Court is considered as final. Neither plaintiff nor respondent can request for any further appeals.
A Justice of the Supreme Court can be appointed from among justices of the Court of Appeals having seniority, extensive knowledge and experience.〔The Supreme Court of Thailand, (2012). The Supreme Court of Thailand, Bangkok, Thailand.〕 The current President of the Supreme Court is Judge Weerapon Thongsuwan (Thai: วีระพล ตั้งสุวรรณ).
==History==

Historically, a Thai King would adjudicate all disputes. There was no Supreme Court. The King himself was the supreme authority of the justice system.〔The Supreme Court of Thailand, (n.d.). History of Supreme Court. Retrieved November 27, 2015 from http://www.supremecourt.or.th/file/dika_eng.pdf〕 Citizens appealed directly to the King along his route to places out of the Palace. This system existed until the early Rattanakosin Era; the reign of King Rama IV.〔ประวิติศาลฎีกา (History of the Supreme Court), ภักดีธนากุล, จ. (2010) กฎหมายวิธีพิจรณาความแพ่งว่าด้วยการอุธรณ์ - ฎีกา〕
During the reign of King Rama V, an official department for appeals was set up in the Palace. In 1891, King Rama V set up the Ministry of Justice. The Judicator Act of 1909 was enacted in the reign of King Rama V. The Supreme Court became the highest court in the country by this Act, and, cases were no longer appealed to the King.〔นโยบายการบริหารงานศาลยุติธรรมและภารกิจที่สำคัญของประธานศาลฎีกา งบประมาณ พ.ศ. 2549-2550, สุขารมย์, ส. (ไม่ระบุ) ประวัติศาลฎีกา (History of the Supreme Court) (น. 10-16)〕
After Thailand adopted a democratic regime of government in 1932, the Judicator Act of 1934 was enacted to amend the Judicator Act of 1909 above. The courts were divided into three levels, namely, Court of First Instance, Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court.
In the present day, the Supreme Court plays an important role as the highest court in the country.
